The sacred Tulasi's botanical name is "Ocimum sanctum".Tulsi is a little tree that grows in
different parts of india, although her place of predominance is Vrindavan (in Uthar Pradesh) that can
be described as "the forest of Tulsis".Another name for Tulsi or Tulasi is Vrindadevi or Maharani as she is the
queen of Vraja :the sacred land of Lord Krsna's birth and pastimes .
In the ancient vedic scriptures (Vedas, Skanda
Puranas,Brahma Samhita, and many more), Tulsi is glorified as the one who contributes bringing people closer to God as She helps increasing
devotion and faith and she awakens the Divine love.
Therefore, the holy scriptures and there preacher (yogis,
mystics, sadhus and saints of india) encourage to wear Tulsi beads arround ones necks.
Tulsi devi is also a protection from negative influences. Whenever Tulsi is present, Tulsi keeps the surroundings
pure, peaceful and harmonious. this is why in many indian household you find the holy plant in a beautifull
decorated pot, where she bestows her protection to the entire familly.
Tulasi also is used in Ayurveda ,the ancient science of medecine by plants and nature's elements, for a large palet
of differents healing properties.
I am a student in fine arts ,i ve decided to use my creative talents to design an elegant line of handcrafted
jewellery that emphasize the beauty of tulasi wood ,and turn a simple mala into a unique piece of jewellery.

description and origin:
tulasi beads:
Our tulasi beads come from the holy town of Radhakund ,in Vraja , close to Vrindavan ,where Lord Krsna was born .
She s been carved with love by generations of Radhakund residents .
Each beads are hand carved in the traditional way , and then polish with bees wax .The amber to coffee color is
obtained by a long proccess of soaking in oils.
Silver:
Our silver comes from Rajasthan ,it is 92,5% silver; from the spacer beads to the chains .
semi-precious stones:
Our stones come also from Rajasthan ,they are good quality stones that i hand pick myself to make sure that i get
the best shine and color.they are all hand polished and facetted.
how to take care of your tulasi necklace:
You can oil your wood beads from time to time to give it a shine , and you make it more water resistant.I would
recommand to use mustard oil ,but any natural oil will do.
Silver sometimes oxidies, especially close to the beach. To get the shine back you can rubb toothpaste on the
beads,and rinse well.
The string used in the necklace is a metal string coated with an acrylic layer. This type of string is used in
jewellery design because it is the strongest kind.
Now u still need to take care of your necklace, and try to avoid playing sports, taking repetitive showers with it.
As it is a holy wood , we would recommand not to put it on the floor , or wear it on the feets,as it is considered
as disrespectfull in hindu beleifs.
please note:
As the beads i use are all handcraft and natural, you can notice some irregularities in the carving , or some
differences in the colors or size ;same thing applies to the Tulasi beads.
After all, this is the beauty of hand made jewellery!!!
Also, the main pattern never changes ,but the color of some stones and small details design on the silver beads can
slightly vary according to the availability.
